Once I add water to my protein powder . . .

my experience has been that when mixed, it begins to break down very quickly. i've let it sit mixed for an hour and in that short time it already tasted bad. i'm talking not sealed and exposed to air. not sure how it wud be when left sealed

Interesting . . . thanks for the reply! Ya know what's funny? The reason I don't know the answer to my own question is that I always guzzle the shake right on down as soon as I make it. I've never even let it sit for more than like 5 minutes. (Oink, oink). )

I don't know, that is a really good question. Kinda makes you wonder if the proteins that are added to the RTD's are stable or not?

I am like you guys, I mix it up and drink it right away.

I take a shake to work. It usually handles fine. I mix it with milk, wheat germ, flax, berries and killer qc. Sometimes if I mix it with too little water it will thicken like paste, but if I add enough no problems. Taste is find when its ice cold. I try to drink it a 2hrs after being mixed.

If kept cool I don't see any problems with it.

If it is difficult getting to the water, then why don't you fill the shaker with water and put your powder in a ziploc bag and put it inside the shaker. Then when you are ready, just open the bag and pour it in. No extra container for the water and no worries.

thats a pain lol. GNC has a shaker that the bottom screws off. you can keep liquid in the shaker and the powder in the bottom portion. its like 6.99

As soon as you mix it with powder you create the environment for bacteria and microbial growth. thus you want to either refrig or drink it right away. You can think of it like milk. You wouldnt leave a gallon of milk sitting at room temp. Protein powder is the same thing.

Oh cool, that's a great analogy. In that case, I'm gonna mix at home and refrigerate it as soon as I get to work. Then when I'm ready to guzzle, I'll just grab it from the fridge. That's way more convenient. Thanks Alex!
