how are you making out with the HVT? Are you sticking with it?

Yep. I am sticking with it.

I have been checking myself with a tape and I have been doing it for about six weeks now and put close to a 1/4-1/2 an inch on my quads.

I really like doing it. Lots of reps at reduced weight. It has definitely helped me fill out in certain areas like my arms and quads and my joints are not as stiff from super heavy weight the following day.

I base my workouts off the big three:

Chest 10x10 Barbell Bench

Back 10x10 Deadlifts

Legs 10x10 Squats

I can really see now why bodybuilders stress these compound movements as the base for workouts...for me anyway they have really helped me put on some great mass.

I have gone from 6'1, 225, 15% six weeks ago to 230 and 14% now. Granted I am leaving out some important and essential details like my diet (I follow the mass diet from Scivation by Chuck Rudolph). But I keep my supplements pretty straightforward: Bovine Serum, Creapure, Oatmuscle, Vitargo, Pepto Pro, and Animal Pak.

time for the dumb question, but next week, I am switching up my routine- as for your routine,
Chest 10x10 Barbell Bench

Back 10x10 Deadlifts

Legs 10x10 Squats

Are you doing chest, back and legs as a superset or finishing each excercise and then moving on? How much rest are you taking between each set?

I am looking to include more excercises, but stick to 5 sets of 5 reps-

heres an example for chest and back that I found on another site

Bench Press 5 -5 - no rest
DB Flyes 5- 5 resting for 1 minute
Incline Bench Press 5-5 no
Incline DB Flyes 5- 5
Cable Lats Pulldown 5 5
DB Rows 5 5
Barbell Rows 5 5
Pullovers 5 5

also,

how are the supps helping with this? Bovine Serum, Creapure, Oatmuscle, Vitargo, Pepto Pro.

is there anything you would add? Do you feel any one of these is helping more then the other? How are you taking them?

Im asking because Im pushing for log board , so all info would be great

The supplements are tougher to evaluate by themselves. I have been using the bovine, pepto, for two years and I have been using animal pak since I began...always helpful I feel.

I do a three day split so chest is one day (I usually stack it with triceps)

Back is one day (stacked with biceps)

And Legs are my last day (which I stack with shoulders)

It is kind of unorthodox, but this is what I have to do when I only have three days a week to hit all the key body parts.

If you were looking for a more detailed explanation of what I do I would be happy to share it but this is the base outline.

I have been working out for about ten years....in the past three I have really started to make progress because I focused on the basics like nutrition and smart supplementation before messing around with training protocol.

I think nutrition is the key. If you are not getting the right amounts of vitamins, minerals, fats, carbs, protein, fiber, etc. going to the gym MIGHT be a waste of time.

Look at the guys who had great physiques back before creatine and protein powders. Guys like steve reeves and larry scott...not too big like todays mass monsters but guys who had great physiques.

They kept things simple and I think there is a lot of wisdom to that.

Excellent point. I have often thought about what type of proteins and supps those guys used back in the day. One might think that most of it was probably raw food (meaning no shakes, etc) to raw eggs!

But its simply amazing that those guys were able to build such awesome pysiciques without BSN Nox, Chinesse creatine and clone PH's

Its not too much of a stretch, considering if you think about it maybe two or three of the two hundred supplements glutting the market actually work
