Simple. The body cant use the amino acids from pea. In order to GROW muscle you need to be in a positive nitrogen state. You can do this two ways. #1 take steroids, or #2 take protein. Protein will increase nitrogen in the body. In order to tell which FOODS the body can get the most nitrogen out of (in layman's terms) you have the old biological value method and PDCAA. #1 is hydrolyzed proteins specifically dairy's, #2 is whole food whey, #milk, egg, soy..blah blah blah.
Pea protein from what I know has a biological value of about 50. Meaning if you drink 50 grams of pea protein you are probably getting literally nothing from it in terms of nitrogen boost. There are a thousand other sources I would use to get my protein. Unless you are highly allergic to most forms of protein, I dont know why anyone would use this....
supplement companies are using it now because dairy is so expensive so they are using it as a filler to lower their costs of their protein supplement. Other supplement companies try to pretend to be cutting edge (like me lol) and say,,"Look everyone, we have a new source of protein that nobody is using but us!!!" Duh assholes, nobody is using it because its a freakin worthless piece of shit protein...Whats next, green bean protein, hey how about brussel sprouts protein.....nobody has that....
The amino acid profile of food products really doesnt mean shit either. If you lined them all up they are pretty much all the same. and besides that it wont make one bit of difference if you have a glutamic acid content of 15 or 25/100, in terms of muscle growth. What will make a difference is using a protein with a good subfraction content and variable sources. that is why my CFM whey isolate has been the #1 selling whey isolate for over 10 years now...use that with super plasma protein and watch yourself grow....
