Protein mix question

I am needing to know a good protein combination, for staying lean in the mid section while putting muscle mass?

Are you looking for an MRP, PWO, or a Night formula? Overall, just go for relatively low carb.

Just all around protein mix drink ect. Mostly morning and afternoon

You're looking for an MRP (meal replacement powder) then. Try the Advanced muscle gain mix or one of the "fat loss" or "lean gainer" MRPs.

a good all around protein would be 50% CFM, 40% heliogen, 10% EFA or CLA or any other dietary fat you want.

In order to achieve the ever elusive "adding muscle while staying lean", it is MORE important to manage your caloric intake than it is to worry about a specific protein mix.

You need to add JUST enough extra calories to your diet to cover the debt induced by the working out, PLUS just enough to cover the building of additional muscle mass ... depending upon your metabolism, age, sex, and other factors, that extra amount might only be an extra 300 per day. Diets that purport needing an additional 500 + calories WILL result in weight gains ... chances are, however that a substantial part of that weight gain is added fat.

Now ... what that extra 300 calories should consist of is the answer to the question you are asking (IMO). The majority of it should be protein ... which source is totally up to you. I like to mix mine up from the various sources present here at the PF ... Whey, Casein, Egg and Super Plasma are all currently present in my all-purpose mix. I also prefer to add fat vice carbs to my all-purpose mix ... egg yolk and EFA's are my fats of choice.

Note that I also take fish oil in the morning to get my Omega 3's ... otherwise I would be tempted to use PF's Omega Muscle.

The only time I use added carbs is in my post-workout mix. My favorite mix has been a mix of Oatmuscle, Rice Syrup Solids (the carb sources) and hydrolyzed protein. I will also add more Super Plasma if money isn't an option.

Yep, and here's my two cents. Even while cutting, don't drop your carbs too low, or you'll have nothing in the tank at the gym, which will hinder your progress and make you feel like crap. Just eat the right carbs at the right times and your golden. After all, when you're pumping iron, what do you think your body is using for fuel? Glucose! And, studies show that carbs ingested right after exercise are partitioned toward glycogen replenishment since your tank is low, and not toward fat cells.

And finally, don't get too crazy with micro-managing your macros because at the end of the day, the most important thing is keeping a consistent caloric defecit--which you'll have to keep lowering and lowering as your body mass gets smaller and smaller. What fun! )
