American Cellular Labs, the nutritional company, pleaded guilty on Wednesday to selling the anabolic steroids (Tren and Madol) labeled as dietary supplements. The company earned $5,627,361 between January of 2005 and July of 2009 selling “Tren Xtreme” and “Mass Xtreme” which contained Madol and Tren (kind of).
The president and CEO of American Cellular Labs pleaded guilty to a felony charge of “introduction and delivery of unapproved new drugs into interstate commerce with the intent to defraud and mislead,” according to the plea agreement. ACL has agreed to pay a half-million dollar fine, and will additionally pay to have their products monitored by an independent lab for a five year period. The parent company of ACL was VMG Global, and both were raided last July by Jeff Novitsky and the FDA:
The company who markets Tren Xtreme (19-norandrosta 4,9 diene 3,17 dione )and Mass Xtreme (17a-Methyl-etioallocholan-2-ene-17b-ol) just had an Xtreme raid conducted on them by U.S. Food and Drug Administration agents, who raided a Max Muscle store in San Francisco, the home of Maurice Sandoval, the alleged owner of the nutritional company -American Cellular Labs – (who claims he isn’t the owner of the company) that markets the products , and WVM Global Incorporated, an associated business to American Cellular. Max Muscle is claimed by the government to have paid American Cellular Labs…
A little quick math in my head reveals that the company was fined 1/11th of their total sales for the product. Way to send a message…if the FDA catches nutritional companies dealing in anabolic steroids, they’ll level a fine of a whopping 1 dollar out of every 11 earned; but if the FDA catches ME (or any private citizen) dealing steroids (a few thousand dollars worth of steroids), then they’ll take every single dollar I made, my house, my car, and throw me in jail. I guess the lesson here is to deal several million dollars of steroids to as many people as possible, as publicly as possible. You’ll even get to keep most of your money and serve no time in prison.
These are the same products and types of products we saw recalled by Bodybuilding.com and MuscleMaster.com, and which were the impetus for the raid on both of these same companies.
