My friend asked what this was and had no idea?

Its a protein mix (WPC, WPI, Egg White, and MPI) by Gaspari nutrition with a little bit of fat thrown in. It looks to be a very average and not very high quality mix. It's $19 for two pounds, so Biofresh is cheaper and higher quality. If your friend wants something nutritionally equivalent, but higher quality, try:


50% Biofresh
20% Egg White
20% Heliogen
10% Sunflower Oil

Good mix DSOTM ... I would "one up it" (IMO anyways) as follows:

50% Biofresh-----------------50% Biofresh (or the Isochill ... both are good, bargain priced WPI's)
20% Egg White-------------15% Egg White (you will see why below)
20% Heliogen----------------20% Heliogen (a very good caseinate, & bargain priced)
10% Sunflower Oil---------15% Instantized Whole Egg (I love this stuff!!!)

what is the taste like?

Never tried mine, I was just offering a theoretical alternative, but since both Heliogen and Biofresh are renown for tasting good, I would expect that it would taste good.

I have used Heliogen Casein, Biofresh, and the Whole Egg extensively ... in terms of taste and mixability, the Biofresh and Whole Egg get 10/10 from me, while the Heliogen gets a 7.5/10, simply because all caseinates don't mix as well, and to me have a slight "off taste" that isn't as clean as whey. The Heliogen in no way tastes "bitter" ... it's just not as good as WPI.

If you were going to mix a mrp for her that tastes really good what would it be. She uses Syntha and likes that but I told her she could do better.

The only thing I can tell her is I trust this protein but I can't put a formula together that taste good like Syntha...When I was using that I looked forward to drinking it...I don't with any of these formulas..I stay here because I trust Alex.

She wants a taste as she puts it that is " Rockin". She does not want any artificial sweetner either, just a basic GOOD taste.

If flavor is that important to your friend, then I doubt that any formula I give her could rival Syntha-Six's taste. I am, after all, going by my own palate AND preference to using the most "effective" protein's vice the best tasting.

I am not trained as a (flavoring / mixing) specialist like those employed by BSN and other such companies; as such I feel a bit reluctent to recommend anything to her.

FOR MYSELF, if taste were the #1 consideration when creating an MRP, I would probably go as follows:

40% WPI
35% Oatmuscle
20% Whole Egg
5% EFA

This gives an approximate Protein / Carb / Fat ration as Syntha-6 and uses (IMO) higher quality protein and carb sources sources.
