Neosweet - What is it?

I'm fairly new to PF, but I have to say this site is quite awesome. I do have one question to which I cannot find answer either by searching this forum or using Google etc.

What the heck is neosweet?

I've ordered it in MRP's and in heliogen casein with the real-banana and real-strawberry flavors and it freaking rocks. It tastes so good I find myself craving it. This actually has me concerned because artificial sweeteners usually have a very chemical taste, but as this does not seem to, I wonder if it is something similar to hfcs or something I would want to avoid.

Any information on where it comes from or what its nutritive qualities are would be greatly appreciated.

I love the stuff (taste-wise) but whether you find it's use "bad / objectionable" depends on where you fall on the "all-artificial-sweeteners-are-bad" spectrum.

Personally I have experienced no perceived negative side effects from using ANY kind of artificial sweetener, but I also mega-supplement and eat a lot / wide variety of veggies.

What I may opt to do one of these days is go without any kind of sweetener and simply add 20% Hydrolyzed Rice Solids to my next protein mix and see how that tastes.

I did a bit more digging. Could Neosweet be just another name for Neotame?

Extremely similar to aspartame.

try that amount in rilose instead, it works much better as a sweetener.
