With the introduction of Hydro 5000, I have decided to revise my basic POST WORKOUT protein stack.
What I've done is basically adjust Alex's Big Blast forumula.
The new blend looks something like this:
Any form of Whey Isolate (usually vanilla flavored, or a blend of concentrate and isolate) = 20%
Hydro 5000 = 10%
Super Plasma Bovine = 10%
Hydro 520 = 10%
Carbs = 50% (oatmeal, Gatorade Fruit Punch, Ribose, and Maltodextrin with the emphasis on Ribose)
Add creatine to your preference. I usually do 5-10 grams post workout with emphasis on the ribose/creatine. Take both.
I make this blend up for the entire week using a simple measuring cup like 1/3 or 1/4 of a cup to get consistency.
I usually add this dry mix to apple juice or a blend of green tea and apple juice and 2 ice cubes and a couple of frozen banana slices.
Those who do endurance workouts, or endurance types, will notice this blend is not in the traditional 1:4 ratio of protein to carb often recommended by many to replenish after a workout. I find too many carbs tends to spike my insulin too much, even after a workout, so I try to limit the carbs to no more than 50% of the blend. This approach is what I find works for me; may not for others.
I don't OVERDOSE on this post workout mix. One (1) scoop into 8-16 ounces of liquid is enough for me. Preferably sipped for at least 5-10 minutes.
