I'm a newb to protein supplementation myself, but have gotten a crash course by reading all the info available in the various protein's descriptions, and from reading posts by various members/moderators. I would humbly recommend a combo of Peptopro, Killer QC, and possibly Electromuscle for immediately after your workout. Pour them into a power/gator-ade of you choice and you're set. (I've read that a little before, and a little during the workout is also extremely beneficial) Apparently the hydrolyzed casein (Peptopro) is unparalleled in absorption do to its small molecular weight and already being broken down into di and tri-peptides. They pass intact through the stomach and presto chango anabolic state. Crazy.
Since I'm broke I went for an all-purpose blend that I can take throughout the day and especially at night.
20% Ultra Amino 97 Whey Isolate
15% Tri-Fx (Whey Fraction)
10% Super Plasma Protein
10% Egg White Protein
15% Membrane Micellar Casein
30% Monster V Protein
I think it's got a lot going for it. Fast and varied wheys, (no hydro since I'll use peptopro for workouts) the seemingly essential and cherished addition of 10% of Super Plasma, one of the bodybuilder's greatest hits album contributor egg white (medium absorption), super high quality casein for slow digestion, and monster V for even longer lasting release (overnight). Has the potential to keep you in a near constant anabolic state if taken a few times a day.
As for carbs, if you want to loose weight I would stay away from high glycemic index carbs like malodextrin or dextrose. Rice oligodextrin is better, but Oatmuscle reigns supreme. Mix that with a little Omegamuscle for fats and you're set. Just my $.02. See what the heavy-hitters think.
