Looking for Ideas for a New ProteinLab

The proteinlab you have is real good. It may be outdated but it works. Where I work they tend to change things that work and mess it up because they try to hard to re-invent the wheel.
If it works don't change it, just tweek it a bit. Bring it up to date.
You have a good thing here and its part of what makes the protein factory what it is today.
I like the little attitude she has in the lab some times. Once In awhile I mess up a formula just to see what her coments are. It makes me laugh.
I don't have any suggestions at the moment. Keep up the great work that has made Protein factory what it is today.

i agree with flyin. dont change it too much, but one suggestion i might like to see is maybe you can put the nutritional facts permanently on the right side so while we choose our proteins and supplements it shows the fat, calories, carbs ... etc. and it would change in real time while we add our percentages to 100.

because sometimes when i go back to the protein segment and try to redo the percentages i would have to press reset on all the fields before changing to the percentage i want.....

other than that i like it because it works. it is only a small inconvenience.

One BIG problem we have is that upwards of more than 50% of the people that come to PF have no idea how to use the Proteinlab. Believe it or not some of the "industry professionals" have no idea what is the difference between milk protein and whey protein.

they send us formulas that are 80% 520, 20% casein, things that dont even make sense.

Meaning that most visitors to the site dont want to be bother about "learning" what is in their protein supplement. All they want to know is "take this" and move on...

We are trying to address this problem also....

I am a big fan of your site. Excellent, fast loading flash site. I am a nurse and part of a human performance lab - have placed several recent orders and we use your products I concert with many others.

Have you every thought about adding some more exotic ingredients, MACA root powder, Green Tea Powder, GABA....

how about then since that is a major problem for the lab is to have a link in the lab and with like the most popular mixtures you have for certain uses: i.e. night-time formulas, post workouts, breakfast, MRP's... just give forumulas that you feel will give the general public what they want, because i know some people who would not touch PF because they do not know what anything is so basically my friend has to order for them...

so just in the lab put a big link to SUGGESTED FORMULATIONS...

or...

how about putting a link to protein information since some people do not bother to read the descriptions. just put like a couple words what are the characteristics of each supplement and times to take it. like CFM = anytime really, highlight extremely highquality protein with 0 fat, carbs etc.

another suggestion, organize the proteins by fast and slow digesting etc., and put like the 520 pepto as like post and pre workout supps... put them in categories

i hope this might spark more ideas.

Another very minor idea--How about giving Lab customers the option to have their mix packaged in a foil bag OR a jug, with like a $3.00 upcharge (or whatever you need to charge) for those who chose the jug.

Another related idea--Any chance PF could offer some of the more popular proteins and MRPs in prepackaged disposable shaker bottles for 'on the go'? I know this sounds incredibly lazy, but I like the idea of grabbing a prefilled bottle and just adding water at the gym, and then chucking the bottle when I'm done. No scooping, premeasuring, etc. on my part. (ISS offers these, I think they're called MP3 or something like that, and it's really convenient. )

I like your product demo you have for CFM Whey Isolate, for people like myself that like to make informed decisions on what I put into my body this is great. I would like to see more product demos on all your other proteins and carbs.
I agree with all the comments and suggestions so far. There is information overload when you first see the website. For example when you arrive at the home page and click on the link under Muscle gains novice athletes there are many choices that will confuse first time visitors and perhaps scare them off. I would suggest on the home page you create a best seller section that others your two top selling products and one product stack for each category. That way a consumer can get in and get out quick and feel confident they have purchased a superior product. Adding a video over view in this section for the products could help.

I think some ingredients should be added. I noticed some ingredients in your other formulas that are not currently in the lab. Maybe even change the percentages to 1% increments. But when someone makes a formula with 5% creatine p/12 and consume 50+g of that formula one or more times per day 5% can be overkill. To where as 2% p/12 consumed in a 50g serving twice a day equals 2g p/12, which is a reasonable amount.

Also, try added the other flavors you offer like the cookies n' cream or fruit flavors like grape.

I would divide the lab in two - one part a learning lab that consolidates info and links to articles about the individual ingredients as well as what combos make sense for each purpose; the other an express order lab, with as few "clicks" or page reloads as possible.
