outer quad sweep

any input guys and gals

i have no idea what that is?

my leg workouts are just simple squats every set with different leg positions and widths...

leg presses same thing.

lunges and running...

are you talking wrestling?...have you ever done dots

That is some advanced stuff. Im sure their r exercises to target the outer thigh, but I think most people, including myself stick with basic squats and things like that.

hack-squats for sweep, and point the toes out more on squat

thx people for ur responses. i also use hacks, feet closer than shoulder width, smith machine and regular barbell squats also with feet close together. leg extensions with toes pointed in and heavy leg presses with toes pointed in. just trying to get some new ideas for outer quad development

One thing I have always done, and this may sound silly, is put your hand on your muscle and see if you can feel where you are getting the peak contraction. Put your feet at a narrow stance, toes straight forward. I do this on leg presses as for some reason I get too much stress on certain parts of my knee when doing it on free squats, and go for a full range of motion. This will put the stress of the load on your outer sweep, you should be able to feel it.

I agree with you on the leg extensions too, I follow up leg press with semi heavy leg extensions and get a great pump after squats and presses.

I am pretty sure, and I'll check with a bodybuilder friend of mine who has the ridiculous sweep, but when developing sweep it is not so much the exercise but the foot placement. So stick with narrow, less than shoulder width, feet straight, and you should be good to go.

thx debruynda. i definitely try using foot placement as my primary tool for quad muscle manipulation. narrow stance seems to work best for me also on most leg exercises. thx for ur input.
